In addition to the new major, minors and concentrations for this year, there are numerous changes to existing programs. Below is a general summary of changes which impact student programs and course requirements for entering students.
Continuing students who may wish to explore these new program changes should consult with their advisor for specific guidance and next steps.
Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice program revamped several course requirements for the 2025-26 catalog. These changes include course restructuring as well as the elimination of the Forensic Investigation Concentration. The Corrections Concentration has also been renamed and will be available as the Complementary Justice Concentration.
Psychology & Addictions Counseling
Similar to Criminal Justice, the Psychology and Addictions Counseling Programs were refreshed with course revisions, updates and changes. In addition, the Physiological Psychology option has been removed. A key change to the Psychology program includes the creation of two new seminar courses aimed to better facilitate student outcomes and career readiness while several Addictions Counseling courses have been modified or changed.
Forensic Science
Several courses within the Forensic Science program have been eliminated to create new courses better aimed at career readiness.
Vanderwerff Traditional Nursing
Key adjustments were made to our courses in the traditional BSN nursing program to better equip students for exam preparation and career readiness as we begin our first year of our on-campus nursing students.
These changes highlight many of the curriculum updates that are now effective for the 2025-26 academic year. These changes do not impact current students on prior catalogs but in some instances, faculty may recommend a catalog change for students to facilitate their studies. Students should consult with their advisors to determine if curriculum requirements would be in their best interest based on their path to degree completion.
