SVLM - Service Leadership & Catholic Social Teaching Minor

In keeping with UP’s mission and the heritage of the Sisters of Providence, The Service Leadership and Catholic Social Teaching (CST)minor provides opportunities for students to learn, reflect, and serve with faculty and students from a wide variety of disciplines. The minor is anchored in the principles and framework of CST, integrating course-work and service experiences to better understand CST principles like human dignity, solidarity, participation in community, rights and responsibilities, care for the Earth, and concern for the poor and vulnerable. The minor offers opportunities to:

• Serve and reflect together in local and regional communities and immersion trips

• Organize and lead service initiatives for other students in collaboration with Campus Ministry, faculty, and other members of theUP community.

• Build on service experiences begun in COD, ILCs, and other courses in Core and majors.

• Learn the key principles of CST and participate in interdisciplinary dialogue with other students and faculty

• Reflect and connect service experiences and CST to disciplines, majors, and future professions, and disciplines.
